Safety Tips

At Devaney Energy safety is a priority.

  • Consider marking your propane tank with a flag or pole. Whether you have an underground or above-ground tank, placing a visible marker that’s higher than the snow depth will increase the odds of it being seen by someone such as a snow plow operator.
  • Know how and where to shut off the outdoor propane supply and indoor propane appliances. For more information, please call our office.
  • It is recommended that you install a CO detector and a propane detector listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on installation, location and maintenance.
  • Make sure you and your family know what propane smells like. Propane has a strong, unpleasant smell like rotten eggs or a skunk’s spray. For more information, call our office to receive a scratch-and-sniff card simulating the smell of propane.

If you smell gas or think you have a leak please call 911 OR Devaney Energy IMMEDIATELY 866-964-8383 and follow the precautions below.
